Biophyics- Bionics
- Would you support the development of a "bionic" person?
I think that western science has helped us as humans significantly, but also has hurt us in ways as well. Western science can be used for good, but can also be very much abused as well.
So I have mixed feelings with this topic. I think the idea of a paralyzed person being able to walk and function is amazing. The idea that even if something went horribly wrong in our bodies, we would be able to help that person still live a full and functional life is amazing! At the same time even though this amazing possibility could be used for greatness, it also has a high likely hood be used for the wrong reasons. I don't think to mess with perfectly full functions humans is right. I understand the want to enhance life to make it easier and more convenient. I think the idea of making humans "super" humans is a great idea, but when it's actually applied I think it's a better idea than it is a reality. Too many complications not only in health can happen, but also is society. Of non-bionic humans being lesser people. Or the government getting too involved in the control of our new bionic humans.
2. Would your view change if this were for a military purpose?
My views would not change if it was for a military purpose unless other countries were dominating us with bionic human militaries as well. We wouldn't want to be at a disadvantage, but we don't want to do this if it's not necessarily.
I agree and think any technology should serve the function of improving quality of life.
