Week 11- The Chemistry of Life

The Dawn of low-carbon shipping: This article gave me hope and made me very excited about how our technology and world is going to transform in a more sustainable way. If began using hydrogen fuel for more than just cargo ships then our oceans would be in much better shape. Whenever a cargo ship accidentally loses its cargo...so much of the oceans marine life gets affected by it in a negative way. The more we protect our oceans the healthier and happier our oceans will be. I am very excited about the idea of having zero carbon ships!

  • Pick a definition and post my thoughts: 
Biochemistry is the chemistry of life: I think this definition is very clear and obvious. Chemistry and biology have an intimate and duel relationship with anything that has life. Life is filled with chemicals and anytime there are chemicals or life happening then chemical reactions are likely to be occurring. Just thinking about our periodic table... we require almost all of those substances and elements for something. Whether its oxygen, physiological responses, and function or even our drinking water! Biochemistry is life.

Midterm Paper- Time: East vs West

Each culture in the world views time differently. In western culture, time is perceived to be more linear. In America time is valuable on a financial level. Anyone in the western business world typically believes that time is money. Also in the western business world, they believe that making quick decisions is important. If a decision isn’t made right away then time is being wasted and so is their money. Westerns are not as careful with considering how it may affect the future and what mistakes have been made in the past. For the westerns its efficiency they value. Time is closely related to life, money, and efficiency. Westerns don’t view the lessons of the past like the Chinese do, they determine how the past lessons were by how the present situation is. Week-4 Energy, Matter and the Four Forces

How has e=mc^2 affected you? This formula has caused me stress while using it chemistry.  This formula shows that all matter contains energy. Even the smallest particle contains mass, which is energy. Everything around us is energy. All of these energetic products are directly influencing one another. I am energy and I am made up of energy...I am an energetic being. So his formula affects everything that happens to me internally and externally at all times.  How would you compare the four forces?
