Loafing

I am a huge fan of loafing and have no problem with loafing and not feeling guilty about it. I try to loaf at least 10min everyday.
My favorite place to loaf is at the hot springs. When I'm not soaking in the water, I lay a towel or a yoga matt on the ground and just do nothing. I find it deeply healing. My monkey mind tends to slow down and I get clarity on the thoughts that do pop in my head. I gain even more awareness of my body, what is tense and what I need to relax. Which allows me to sink deeper into my puddle of nothingness and peace.
My second favorite loafing spot is deep in the forest. I try to find a nice spot near a stream, river or in a tree. Lately, I hike to an amazing oak tree deep in the redwoods. It's the perfect climbing tree and at the very top of this tree is almost like a hand palm, perfect for laying in. I sometimes spend an hour up in the tree just staring at the leaves, listening to nature and getting clarity within myself. This act of doing nothing but being in the forest is the most effective way of healing my energetic self.

Even just simply loafing on the couch or in my backyard for 10min at a time...I always feel like a little more weight is taken off my shoulders. I find the act of doing nothing is extremely beneficial for the mind body and spirit. I also feel I tend to be more efficient and productive after my loafing.

  1. I really enjoyed your introduction to this topic " I am a huge fan." It is great to read about how you are able to take time for yourself and feel productive after even 10 minutes of resting.
