Week-4 Energy, Matter and the Four Forces

  • How has e=mc^2 affected you?
This formula has caused me stress while using it chemistry.
This formula shows that all matter contains energy. Even the smallest particle contains mass, which is energy. Everything around us is energy. All of these energetic products are directly influencing one another. I am energy and I am made up of energy...I am an energetic being. So his formula affects everything that happens to me internally and externally at all times.

  • How would you compare the four forces?
Weakest to->>>>>>> greatest force

gravity, weak nuclear force, electromagnetic force, strong nuclear force

the forces interact with one another to great things such as the grand unified theory. Where the weak and strong nuclear force comes together like a magnet. All of these forces are separate but they work together to create one great force or many great forces at a team.

  • What is the function of gravity?
"Gravitation is the tendency of masses to move toward each other."
The force of gravity is what keeps everything in orbit around the sun. It keeps my laptop from floating and keeps me grounded to this planet. It allows objects to stay on the surface of the earth. It allows things to fall when things are dropped. Gravity helps prevent our planets and stars from colliding. Going in a proper orbit with a gravitational pull.

Comments

  1. "Everything around us is energy" is an important observation you made. It would be interesting if the energy potential of every life form was accessible to that life form. The E=MC2 concept is a fun theoretical mental exercise. It's mostly theoretical because the energy potential of most molecules of animate life forms and inanimate objects are not accessible. I am sure there is a good reason for that.

  2. It's definitely food for thought that the four forces are the foundation for every other force in the universe!
